100-Mile Diet

Master Gardeners attend Grafton’s 100-Mile Diet event hosted by St. Andrew’s United Church

Northumberland Master Gardeners recently participated in Grafton’s 100 Mile Diet Event.

This was the 11th year for this event which is hosted by St. Andrew’s United Church. It was an event that brought together 24 local food producers who shared their products and information about how the food is produced.

Northumberland Master Gardeners were on hand to answer gardening   questions for local gardeners. There were approximately 530 people attending the event. We were kept busy answering questions about everything from lawn care to apple tree pruning. The Master Gardeners, volunteering at the event enjoyed their day of sharing horticultural knowledge. The winner of our free draw for a fall planter was Janice McLaughlin, a Grafton resident.

Northumberland Master Gardeners donated $100.00 to The Student Nutrition Program in Northumberland County as part of the 100 Mile Diet initiative.
