The Northumberland Master Gardeners were delighted to host the return of Seedy Saturday on February 17, 2024 at the Masonic Lodge in Port Hope, which saw people lining up before the doors even opened. The well-attended event attracted a crowd of serious gardeners and adventurous growers, some coming from a long distance to see the array of vendors.
An ingenious seed cleaning machine was demonstrated to fascinated viewers by Muscutt Seeds (from Bethany), and local business Dancing Bee Equipment had an impressive display of apiary gear, clover seeds and jars of honey.
The seed vendors were fully stocked for vegetable gardens and flowers (both annual and perennial), and many attendees found unique selections of heirloom varieties, hard-to-find peppers, and a table full of cacti, succulents and houseplants.
We were thrilled with the turnout and look forward to planning for this event again next year – we think we can squeeze a few more vendors into the hall!
