Trumpet Vine – campsis radicans

Trumpet Vine

Trumpet Vine

This is a very woody deciduous climber that can grow to about 15 to 20 ft. It likes full sun and any kind of soil, blooms mid summer to frost.

It is late to show up in the spring, the flowers are trumpet shaped and orange red in colour, the humming birds love them.

Prune in late winter just to shape, but not back to the ground.  Tie the new shoots up to train them at first.

One note, it is very vigorous once it gets going, look out, it is not a vine for everyone.
